Prayer
As we enter the season of Lent, Dan and Tom wrestle with the latest set of covid-related guidelines by the bishops, those that call for the use of Q-tips by priests and deacons for the distribution of ashes. We are a sensory Church! But, it seems that anxiety and fear continue to grip many in the mystical body of Christ. The Lenten season also means PFAP–Prayer, Fasting, Almsgiving and Penance, and our hosts emphasized the Lectio Divina practice, and the urging by Jesus to not pray, fast or give alms in a way that seeks our glory rather than God’s. And Sacred Scripture gives us many reasons to pray, not least because Jesus prayed. But as with everything in the Bible, trust in God comes only from having a relationship with Him. Jesus came for all, but his message was only received–and lived–by those who believed in Him and became His disciples. So, have that conversation with our Lord; pour out your heart; complain, with vigor and respect; and, love Him.
